DOC · MICRODC-BRIEF-001v3.4

Also available in Español. This page is for the people who approve the budget, not the people who write the code. It covers what MicroDC.ai does, why it costs less, how your data stays private, and where it fits in a business. The technical version is on the How It Works page.

The short version.

§01 · IN ONE PARAGRAPH

Your business has work that AI can do: reading contracts, sorting customer feedback, pulling numbers out of invoices, writing product descriptions, translating documents. That work needs powerful, expensive computers. MicroDC.ai gives you access to thousands of them, already running, without buying, renting, or staffing a single one. You send us the work. We send back the results. You pay only for work completed.

Why AI processing is so expensive today.

§02 · THE PROBLEM
PROBLEM · 01

The machines are costly

AI runs on specialized computer chips called GPUs. Each one costs tens of thousands of dollars, a serious setup needs many of them, and the total runs into the hundreds of thousands before the first job runs. Renting from a large cloud provider avoids the purchase, but the hourly rates are steep and add up quickly.

PROBLEM · 02

Most of that cost is waiting

Whether you buy or rent, you pay for the machine around the clock. Most businesses keep theirs busy only 15 to 40 percent of the time. The rest of the bill is money spent on equipment that is sitting idle.

PROBLEM · 03

Most work doesn't need an instant answer

A customer chatbot needs a reply in a second. A stack of 10,000 contracts to review does not. Yet most companies pay instant-answer prices for work that could just as well be finished overnight.

Think of it as a freight network, not a private truck.

§03 · HOW IT WORKS

A company that ships goods doesn't buy its own fleet and let the trucks sit in the lot between deliveries. It hands the freight to a carrier that already has trucks on the road, and pays by the shipment. MicroDC.ai does the same thing for AI work, in four steps.

STEP 01━━━▶

You send the work

Your team or your software vendor sends us the task: the documents, the questions, the data. Setup takes minutes and uses the same tools developers already use with the big AI providers.

STEP 02━━━▶

We find the right machine

Our system matches each job to a suitable computer in a network of thousands, sized to the task. No reservations, no waiting for equipment to be provisioned.

STEP 03━━━▶

The work gets done

Large batches are spread across many machines at once, so 10,000 documents don't wait in a single line. Sensitive work can be locked so that only you can read it.

STEP 04

Results come back

Finished results are delivered straight into your systems. You are billed only for completed work, with a receipt for every job.

What this does to the budget.

One real week, priced three ways.

FROM THE BILLING LEDGER

We took one unedited week of real customer traffic on the network, 17,757 individual tasks across three AI models, and priced the identical work on Amazon Web Services.

MICRODC.AI · ACTUALLY BILLED
$0.21
For the full week of work
AWS · PAY PER USE (BEDROCK)
≈ $2.35
Same tasks · about 11× more
AWS · RENTING THE MACHINES
≈ $129
Busy hours only · idle time extra

Rates on the network move with supply and demand, so this is what the ledger showed that week, not a guarantee. The rented-machine figure counts only hours the equipment was actually working. A real deployment also pays for idle hours, a backup machine, and the engineer who looks after it. Read the full breakdown →

Invoices and forms

Read scanned invoices, receipts, and application forms. Turn paper and PDFs into clean spreadsheet rows your systems can use.

Sort reviews, support tickets, and survey responses by topic and tone. Learn what customers are actually saying, across all of them.

The questions business leaders ask us.

§06 · TRUST
Q · 01

Is my data safe?

You can have your documents locked (encrypted) on your own computers before they leave. Only your systems hold the key. The machine doing the work handles the data in memory and erases it when finished. We cannot read your data, and neither can anyone else on the network. SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications are in progress.

Q · 02

Who owns the computers doing the work?

A network that includes MicroDC-run facilities and vetted partner operators. Every machine is monitored and scored, and removed if it underperforms. Locked, sensitive jobs run only on machines MicroDC manages directly.

Q · 03

Do I need to hire engineers?

You need someone who can connect software to a web service, which most IT teams, developers, and software vendors do routinely. MicroDC.ai works with the same tools used for the large AI providers, so switching is usually a small change, not a project.

Q · 04

What happens if something fails?

You are not charged. Credits are deducted only when a job finishes successfully, and every completed job comes with a receipt you can audit.

Q · 05

Can we try it before committing?

Yes. New accounts get free credits with no credit card required. When you are ready to buy, start at $1. There is no contract, no monthly minimum, and credits never expire.

Q · 06

Is this for real-time, customer-facing use?

Not primarily. MicroDC.ai is built for work that can wait minutes or hours: batches, back-office processing, overnight runs. That patience is exactly where the savings come from. If your need is somewhere in between, ask us.

Seven words your technical team will use.

§07 · GLOSSARY
InferenceUsing a trained AI model to do work: answer a question, summarize a document, label a record. This is what you pay for.
ModelThe AI itself. Different models are better at different tasks and cost different amounts. MicroDC.ai offers more than 100.
GPUThe specialized computer chip that runs AI. Expensive to buy, and the main reason AI processing costs what it does.
TokenThe unit AI work is measured in. Roughly three-quarters of a word. Prices are usually quoted per million tokens.
JobOne unit of work you send us: a document to summarize, a batch of records to classify. Each job gets its own receipt.
QueueThe line jobs wait in before a machine picks them up. Because jobs can wait a little, we can use machines that would otherwise sit idle.
EncryptionLocking data so only the key holder can read it. Available on every job for sensitive material.
